Dr. Xie is a professor of
Bioinformatics and Genomics, Zhongshan
Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University,
Guangzhou, China. He also holds an
appointment as Vice Director of National
Institute of Health Data, Sun
Yat-sen University.
Dr.
Xie received two undergraduate degrees
in Applied Computing and Medical Science
in New Zealand and China, respectively.
In 2007, he obtained his Ph.D. in
Computational Systems Biology at Lincoln
University, New Zealand. After three
years of postdoctoral fellowship at
Wilmer Institute of Johns Hopkins
University, he moved to National
Institutes of Health, U.S., first as a
Staff Scientist and then an Investigator
during 2010 to 2013. In October, 2013,
he started his position at Sun Yat-sen
University, leading the Laboratory of
Bioinformatics and Genomics.
